Former Florida Republican Rep. Mark Foley has returned to politics, appearing last week to mentor local Young Republicans.

Foley resigned in disgrace from Congress in 2006. He had been exposed for having inappropriate relationships with underage male pages, including engaging in sexually explicit online conversations.

The Palm Beach Post reports that Foley was a hit with the Young Republicans.

“He was amazing. Charismatic. He has a great message and touched on so many different things and seamlessly did it,” said the president of the Palm Beach County Young Republicans, “He’s enthralling to listen to.”

During the controversy in 2006, a former Foley page described in graphic detail Foley’s comments on other pages’ physical attributes. The page said that he had a sexual relationship with Foley years after serving as a page.
