Reality TV star Jesse James likened himself to an average Joe during a Q&A with Men’s Journal by justifying his unfaithful past by concluding “millions of other men” cheat on their spouses.

Speaking of the affairs that ended his five-year marriage to Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock, James said, “I never shied away from anything I did. I took full responsibility. I cheated on my wife. Guess what? So do millions of other men.”

But James, who reportedly slept with tattoo model Michelle “Bombshell” McGee for nearly a year while he was married, admits that he wasn’t totally invested in his union with Bullock.

“To be honest, it was unfair for me to even be in a relationship,” James told the publication. “I sabotaged everything. I was never 100 percent in. I’m self-destructive. I made some seriously f-cked-up choices.

Earlier this month, James wasn’t as sympathetic towards Bullock. In an interview with ABC’s “Nightline,” James said he was done worrying about his ex-wife.

“I can’t worry about her anymore…you know? … I think I spent a good chunk of the last five or six years worrying only about her and what she thinks, and what I should do, and, like, you know, [her] controlling all of my movements and everything else…I think it’s time to worry about Jesse and making sure Jesse is happy,” James said.

After James’s philandering was made public, he checked into a rehab in southern Arizona to start over and restore his sanity.

“It was profound, what happened to me in Tucson,” James said. “My life kind of started over. I hit the reset button. On everything.”

Now engaged to tattoo artist Kat Von D, James said he was certain he’d be faithful to his current fiancé.
