Guns and Gear

With gun rights under fire, are you ‘all in’ for 2012?

As I’ve written before, the right to keep and bear arms is the only right our Founding Fathers described as “necessary to the security of a free state.” This designation is in the very language of the Second Amendment:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Yet here we stand, perhaps unaware of the insidious actions of the Obama administration, and therefore, perhaps unprepared for the all-out assault that will soon be launched against the Second Amendment — against that right which is “necessary to the security of a free state.”

At this very moment in time, the Obama administration is working “under the radar” to secure gun control measures which will circumvent the U.S. Congress and the U.S. Constitution. Working alongside rogue nations like Iran, a nation which even now stands in violation of U.N. dictates on nuclear weapons, the U.S. is taking part in negotiating the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), which is ostensibly aimed at controlling the flow of guns across borders, from one country to another. Yet in actuality this treaty, if it is to be enforceable, will have to require the registry of all privately owned guns — both handguns and long guns — at some point. (How else will a governing body know whose guns are crossing which border?)

The George W. Bush administration rejected this treaty out of hand in 2006, but the Obama administration is giving it high-level support now, according to The Washington Times.

Yet it’s important to note there are various, separate ways to respond to, and even forestall, this treaty’s ratification and implementation. Of course we need to be contacting our senators, who actually hold the power of ratification, and we need to ask them to not only oppose the ATT but also to make it clear to Obama that they will oppose any treaty that sets itself between the American people and the rights possessed by the American people. To that end, call and email your senators again and again. (U.S. Capital Switchboard: 1-202-224-3121)

Another crucial thing we can do is join with the NRA in its “All In” campaign. While it’s a campaign specifically aimed at stopping the ratification of the ATT, it goes beyond that. In truth, it is a call to go “all in” to defeat President Obama in the November elections so that we don’t have to live under a sitting president who’s willing to sign off on international gun control treaties anytime soon.

Here’s a statement from my friends at the NRA:

Our Second Amendment rights have been attacked for four long years. In four more, they could disappear entirely. This election year, the NRA is rallying gun owners to go ALL IN for the freedom. Are you ALL IN?

Here’s a link to the NRA video that explains the dangers of the current push for gun control in the U.N., as well as the need for the NRA’s “All In” campaign.

Watch it, then ask yourself: Are you all in for this one?
