As the sandy splendor that is women’s beach volleyball kicked off in London over the weekend, the top Olympic draw had its usual array of scantily-clad competitors — save for the U.S. team.
The U.S. athletes made headlines last week when they pledged they would not cover up in the face of new rules allowing shorts and a t-shirt.
