Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish made a splash in his first season in the U.S. and lost a perfect game on the 27th batter in his 2013 opening start.
What will he do for an encore?
How about throwing five pitches at the same time!
Okay, not really. That was more thanks to this GIF that shows Darvish throwing five of Darvish’s seven pitch grips at the same time.
Check out the trajectory on the curveball compared to the fastball and how his delivery and release point are exactly the same on all five pitches.
Pretty cool stuff.
Theoretically, would it be more impressive to throw five simultaneous strikes with different grips on all five, or to catch all five in the same glove?
On another note, if you strike out Albert Pujols on five pitches at the same time, is there some sort of “Do Not Pass Go” card to the Hall of Fame?
