A Polish priest warned parents Lego is a tool of Satan and its line of monster and zombie figures can destroy a child’s soul.

Father Slawomir Kostrzewa said in a presentation for parents that Lego has gone to the dark side with its new line of Monster Fighters and Zombies. He cited research by New Zealand’s University of Canterbury that found expressions of Lego’s figures have become angrier over the years, reports The New Zealand Herald.

“Friendly fellows have been replaced by dark monsters,” said Kostrzewa. “These toys can have a negative effect on children. They can destroy their souls and lead them to the dark side.”

Dr Christopher Bartneck, one of the study authors, said they did not explicitly test Lego’s influence on children, and the research does not indicate any danger to children’s souls.

But Kostrzewa said the figures confuse the boundary between good and evil and make it appear that the good suffer in battle while the villains are satisfied with their evil deeds. “[The figures] were about darkness and the world of death,” he said.

Hello Kitty and My Little Pony have also been attacked by Mr Kostrzewa, who has referred to My Little Pony as a “carrier of death,” reports The Telegraph.

Psychologist Monika Filipowska told a Polish newspaper the figures are only blocks. “Linking them to Satan is just wrong, and all that will happen is that children will be afraid of them now,” Filipowska said.
