A Houston man has been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly throwing a Chihuahua at a Starbucks window after he was banned from the premises.

Larry McHale allegedly threw the 4.5-pound female Chihuahua at the window with such force that its leg was broken.

Witnesses said that he had been making a scene at the coffee shop around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Starbucks location had banned him three months before the incident. He yelled and smashed a bottle, UPI reports.

The Starbucks manager, Jasmine Hyder, explained the logic of banning McHale in an interview with KHOU-TV, Houston: “He harasses customers every time. He comes in and starts chaos.”

He retaliated against the ban by throwing a dog against the café window.

Hyder related that the noise of the dog hitting the window “was so loud, the window sounded like it was going to break. He’s like, ‘you don’t care about humans. You only care about a dog.’ ”

After McHale’s arrest, the dog, now named Starbucks, was admitted to Houston’s Animal Shelter and Adoption Facility, which is not a no-euthanasia shelter. She is now in foster care after being taken from the pound by Frisky Paws Rescue, a non-profit currently collecting donations to pay for the surgery needed to heal her broken leg.
