At Saturday’s Veterans Day Weekend matchup against Notre Dame, Arizona State surprised one lucky family.

I’m not sure if this is enough to make up for their war on school spirit, but it’s a pretty good start. (RELATED: Arizona State University Is Banning Face Paint Because It’s Politically Incorrect Now)

During the time out between the 1st and 2nd quarters, the Sun Devils invited the Wiser family onto the field to partake in a Veterans Day celebration.

Little did they know, they were about to be greeted by a surprise visitor, as Operations Specialist Philip Wiser sprinted out of the home locker room to meet his family.

Wiser returned from his deployment in Afghanistan two months early and shared a tender moment embracing his family in the end zone.

It’s moments like this that make me proud to be an American. Those boys put their lives on the line to protect our freedom every day, and it’s only fitting we do our part to recognize their sacrifice.

God bless the troops, God bless football and God bless the United States of America.
