NBC Capitol Hill reporter Luke Russert told MSNBC’s “The Daily Rundown” that there is a conservative movement brewing to prevent John Boehner from being re-elected as House speaker on the first ballot.

“What will really be interesting is in January, there has been a movement by some of the more conservative members to not allow John Boehner to be elected as speaker on the first ballot, and that would be something that would be deeply embarrassing,” Russert said. “It almost happened the last time around, it hasn’t happened in many, many, many, many years in the House of Representatives.”

“So if they want to make a real protest, look for it in January,” he said. “But we’ll start to be able to read the tea leaves today on that front.”
