Marketing your smartphone brand on Twitter is probably somewhat counterintuitive if you’re tweeting from a competitor’s phone.
BlackBerry — the original smartphone manufacturer that’s been battling profit decline and criticisms of being outdated in recent years — published a tweet Tuesday encouraging fans to follow the brand on Twitter, without realizing that the tweet included the line, “via Twitter for iPhone.”

The marker doesn’t appear on Twitter’s standard interface, but shows up on third-party platforms like TweetDeck and Tweetbot.
Someone in BlackBerry’s marketing division might now be entitled to a new phone — or possibly in need of a new job.
