A freshman student at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is facing a sexual assault charge after watching a woman undress, binding her with belts, whacking her with another belt several times and then smacking her repeatedly upside the head, prosecutors say.

The student is Mohammad Hossain, the Chicago Tribune reports.

At a bail hearing, a Cook County prosecutor told the presiding judge that the beatdown occurred in Hossain’s UIC dorm room on Saturday evening, around 5:30 p.m.

The unidentified woman stripped down to her bra and underwear, assistant state’s attorney Sarah Karr explained. Then Hossain, 19, tied the woman’s hands above her head, bound her legs and stuffed a necktie in her mouth, according to Kerr. He also put a stocking cap over her eyes, Kerr added.

Then, the state’s attorney alleged, Hossain went about beating the woman with a belt and with his fists. She asked him to stop. She “began shaking her head and crying,” Kerr said, according to the Tribune.

Hossain did not stop, the court heard, and the woman struggled to get her hands free as the walloping continued.

The woman eventually left after Hossain’s roommate arrived at the dorm room. She told a friend what happened, and must have then contacted police.

When UIC police later found Hossain, he said he may have been “doing something wrong,” the Tribune reported.

Hossain also told police he and the woman had agreed to reenact scenes from the movie “Fifty Shades of Grey,” a 125-minute tour de smut — and sadism, and bondage — starring the private parts of Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan. Hossain and the woman had “been intimate” in prior hookups, the state’s attorney said, but were not in any serious relationship.

In Hossain’s defense, a Cook County public defender representing the freshman argued that Hossain, a good student, was acting in good faith.

“He would say that it was consensual,” the public defender said, according to the Tribune.

The judge set Hossain’s bail at $500,000.

UIC, a dismal and endless slab of concrete that is easily one of the ugliest campuses in America, has been in the news for strange and scary reasons before.

Last year, for example, a twentysomething man strolled into a co-ed dormitory building on the UIC campus and sexually assaulted a female student who was taking a shower. UIC bureaucrats said they had no idea how the rapist managed to gain entry into the five-story dormitory. (RELATED: Students Capture Man After He Sneaks Into Dorm, Rapes Girl In Shower)

In May 2013, trustees at UIC approved a plan to allow students to obtain sex change operations under the taxpayer-funded school’s generous student health insurance plan. (RELATED: Trustees At Public University Vote To Hikes Student Fees To Fund Sex Changes)

And, of course, UIC was the well-known professional home of unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers from 1987 until his retirement in 2010. (RELATED: TERRORIST UNIVERSITY: The University of Illinois System Keeps Hiring Terrorists)
