The Cleveland Cavaliers will take on the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 of the 2015 NBA Finals on Thursday, but one Cavaliers player is already taking shots.
On Wednesday, notorious trash-talker — and Cavs shooting guard — J.R. Smith posted a picture to Instagram criticizing Caitlyn Jenner’s very public gender transition, and let’s just say he probably shouldn’t have said that. In case you can’t read the fine print, here’s Smith’s message in full:
Shout out to Akon! He is about to supply 600 million Africans with solar power. I’m really upset that this isn’t major news but that science project Bruce Jenner is. #Society
J.R. deleted the picture shortly after posting.
I’m not going to come out and blast Smith for posting the picture. I respect his right to speak his mind, just like I respect Jenner’s decision to do whatever-the-hell-you-want-to-say-he’s-currently-doing. Still, you’d think J.R. wouldn’t want to draw any extra attention to himself on the eve of the biggest series of his career.
Food for thought.
