Maggie Gyllenhaal Wore Leather Pants To An Audition And Was Still Told She Wasn’t Sexy Enough

Maggie Gyllenhaal put on a pair of leather pants for an audition, but even those didn’t give her enough sex appeal for the casting director’s liking.

In a new interview with “The Hollywood Reporter,” the 37-year-old actress was asked if she’s ever considered quitting acting. Gyllenhaal recalled that she used to hear “no” a lot at casting calls, and sometimes still does.

“And, ‘You’re not sexy enough. You’re not pretty enough.'”

“When I was really young, I auditioned for this really bad movie with vampires. I wore a dress to the audition that I thought was really hot. Then I was told I wasn’t hot enough.”

“My manager at the time said, ‘Would you go back and sex it up a little bit?’ So I put on leather pants, a pink leopard skinny camisole and did the audition again and still didn’t get the part.”
