Chip Kelly has been fired as the head football coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kelly was fired Tuesday night according to a statement released by the Eagles management.

Jeffrey Lurie, chairman and CEO of the Philadelphia Eagles, said, “We appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward.”

While management clearly knew what was going on, the players apparently didn’t. According to some reports, the players weren’t even notified at all that their head coach was being fired.

The former Oregon Ducks coach had a career winning record of 26-21 with the Eagles, but several controversial roster decisions and a poor 2015 campaign led to his dismissal. (RELATED: Stephen A Smith: Eagles Head Coach Chip Kelly Is Probably A Racist [VIDEO])

Kelly has also faced accusations of racism after shipping out several high profile black players. (RELATED: Is Eagles Head Coach Chip Kelly Racist? LeSean McCoy Seems To Think So)

It’s unclear if Kelly will return to college football following his failure at the professional level, but his name will undoubtedly be thrown around for several big time job openings.
