A homeowner in Hartford, Alabama stopped a would-be burglar from invading his home with a single shot on Tuesday night, the Dothan Eagle reports.
According to Hartford Police Chief Annie Ward, officers arrived on the scene just after 11 p.m. and took the suspect to the hospital where he has since been treated and released for a gunshot wound to the chest.
According to Ward, charges against the suspect are pending.
“I want the citizens of Hartford to know if they feel like their life or their family’s lives are in danger then they have the right to protect themselves,” Ward said.
