Joy-Ann Reid Ignores Uber Wheelchair Discrimination

The day after a disability rights activist blasted the Democratic convention for giving Uber a sweetheart deal even though their cars are not wheelchair accessible, Joy-Ann Reid, the MSNBC host and New York State tax delinquent, praised Uber for not discriminating — at least not against black people.

“Why I Uber. Taxi companies haven’t changed discriminatory behavior and apparently won’t, whether in N.Y. or L.A.,” she tweeted, linkink to a tweet from her sister claiming a racist cab company demanded she give a security deposit before getting a ride.

When another user reminded Reid about longstanding complaints that Uber discriminates against disabled people she said nothing.  Reid also kept quiet when tweeted a link to the Washington Gadfly article about the convention-Uber controversy.

But yesterday her sister, June Carryl, responded with a tweet that contained the uncanny mix of ignorance and self-righteousness which made Archie Bunker a household name.

“Huh. Reads like a hit piece. Suddenly the right cares about people with disabilities.”

Suddenly?

She apparently did not know that it has been 26 years since President George H.W. Bush signed the landmark Americans with Disability Act, championed by Bob Dole, into law. Or that former GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum has spoken eloquently and repeatedly about caring for his severely disabled daughter.

This reporter tweeted Caryl his phone number and dared her to call and discuss.

She replied:

“You want someone to jump into the hate pool with you and that’s not me.”

Pool of hate?

Who are the lifeguards? Does it need extra chlorine?

I didn’t actually ask those questions but instead tweeted follow-ups to make clear she was standing in her own little liberal cesspool.  Did she even know Bush signed the ADA? How can she say conservatives don’t care about the disabled if they don’t with Downs Syndrome babies aborted?

She claims taxi cabs discriminate against blacks but does it bother her that The Washington Post is being credibly accused in federal court of deliberately forcing out older black business employees and replacing them with younger cheaper whites.

The sister was also reminded that Reid, an affirmative action hire who constantly accuses just about everybody under the sun of racism, was personally informed almost three years ago about the lawsuit but refuses to report it.

This very tolerant liberal blocked me in response.

But since Reid loves Uber so much maybe one of these days she can take a ride to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany and pay her $4948.15 outstanding tax debt.
