In a CNN interview, New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd raised the concern that the White House could be fraught with donor sleepovers as a fundraising tactic under a Hillary Clinton administration.

“I just hope they don’t bring back Motel 1600 with all of the crazy donors running around the Lincoln bedroom,” Dowd told host Jake Tapper on Friday.

During President Bill Clinton’s administration, the long list of both donors and friends who slept in the Lincoln bedroom sparked a fundraising scandal.

In recent weeks, newly released emails raised questions whether Hillary Clinton’s State Department had improper ties to the Clinton Foundation’s donors.
