The Daily Beast’s Jonathan Alter got fact-checked on MSNBC’s Monday broadcast of “Meet the Press Daily” after misleading viewers about the Trump University lawsuit.

While discussing the American Health Care Act, Alter said “it’s very instructive that a guy who puts his name on everything — buildings he doesn’t own, steaks that don’t taste good, universities that are frauds — he won’t put his name on this bill!”

The conversation briefly turned to whether the Trump University case was pending or settled, to which Alter added “no, they settled.”

“Trump settled,” he told guest host Katy Tur. “And they basically admitted that it had been fraudulent.”

Tur proceeded to correct Alter, noting “there was a clause in there where they said they wouldn’t admit guilt.”

Having been fact-checked live on air, Alter laughed uncomfortably before moving on with his thought.
