The University of Wisconsin, Madison is hiring an administrator to provide “social justice education” at the school, offering a minimum salary of $46,000 for the role.

The “Social Justice Education Specialist” will devise and conduct social justice workshops, supervise “Social Justice Student Interns,” and meet with students one-on-one to talk about “issues of injustice,” according to the vacancy listing reported by Campus Reform.

One of the administrator’s duties will be to increase the success of students who are racial minorities, members of the LGBTQ community, female, or “other historically marginalized groups.” The Social Justice Education Specialist will also aid UW-Madison’s Multicultural Student Center.

In June, Wisconsin’s state assembly passed a free speech bill that will make students who routinely interrupt speakers subject to punishment.

“The job posting is not for a new position or initiative – it is filling an existing position that became vacant,” Meredith McGlone, director of news and media relations at UW-Madison, said. “This position is intended to support students so they can achieve their full educational potential and to support the university’s efforts to create a campus community where all feel welcome and able to thrive.”
