Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio said the Democratic Party has no national leader Wednesday in an interview with C-SPAN.

Ryan criticized his own party when discussing leadership, saying he doesn’t know if there is one.

“Who is the leader of your party right now?,” C-SPAN host Paul Orgel asked Ryan.

“I don’t know if we really have one to be honest with you, and its reflected in the polls,” Ryan responded. “I guess it’s unknown. I don’t think the average person would really identify anybody, clearly they use leader Pelosi a lot, in a lot of ads that they run.”

WATCH:

Ryan’s comments Wednesday were very similar to the ones he made about the Democratic Party in late June on CNN, criticizing House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and calling the party’s brand “toxic.”

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Pelosi are the leading Democrats in Congress, but he said there is no one actually leading.

“I would say right now there’s not any major leader of the party,” he said. (RELATED: Democratic Rep: Pelosi Is More ‘Toxic’ Than Trump [VIDEO])

Ryan previously ran to be house minority leader in November but lost to Pelosi, and said he doesn’t have interest in running again.
