CNN commentator Errol Louis gave the best and fairest take so far on the controversy surrounding President Donald Trump’s phone call to a Gold Star family.

Louis said on Friday morning that everyone should just “move on” from what was clearly a “miscommunication” between the Gold Star family and Trump.
“Is there a graceful way out of this thing?” CNN host John Berman asked.
“Well there is–it mostly involves not continuing this ridiculous fight,” Louis asserted. “I think every mature person who has been watching this understands what happened here–there was a horrible miscommunication between this president and between this family.”
Louis explained that “a lot of offense was taken on both sides” because of the misunderstanding, but urged people to listen to Gen. Kelly’s speech if they still wish to score political points on the issue.
“If you didn’t get it before, you should either watch or read what Gen. Kelly’s said yesterday, and he makes clear that this is good people trying to make the best of a terrible situation,” he said. “If everybody would just kind of move on I think we understand now that what matters is that there are a lot of people in the field…and that’s what everybody should be focused on.”
