I finally got a chance to listen to Justin Timberlake’s new song “Supplies,” and the lyrics are wild.

The lyrics include the following:

I’ll be the light when you can’t see
I’ll be the wood when you need heat
I’ll be the generator, turn me on when you need electricity
Some shit’s about to go down
I’ll be the one with the level head
The world can end now
Baby, we’ll be living in The Walking Dead

Ain’t no need of stopping, girl
There ain’t no need of stopping, girl
Yeah, okay

‘Cause I got supplie-ie-ies
Supplie-ie-ies
I got you, I got supplie-ie-ies
Supplie-ie-ies

Let me start off by saying that I’m a huge Justin Timberlake fan. The man just knows entertainment. He’s one of the greatest entertainers of our generation, and I don’t even really think that’s up for debate. He can sing, act and he’s pretty funny.

Having said all of that, I don’t really understand why Timberlake has a song with lyrics generators and wood. Is this song supposed to be setting the scene for a sexy date in the middle of the woods with the rancher’s daughter? I can get on board with that , but even then I’m not sure this song is going to get the job done.

When I think of sexual appeal a generator is not what comes to mind, and I hope it’s not what comes to mind for you.

I also totally recognize the fact that Timberlake is a musical superstar that has almost certainly had more luck with women than I have. He probably knows what he’s talking about. I’m just saying it doesn’t make sense to me, but maybe I need to give it a shot. That would be one hell of a blog chronicling the experience of trying to live out these lyrics.
