Two fireman from Alabama did a kind deed for an elderly veteran Saturday, when they mowed his lawn after he was rushed to the hospital for chest pains.

The Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service Department posted a message on their Facebook page, praising the two members of Rescue Unit 25 for their efforts.

We commend Firefighter/Paramedic Tommy Carter and Firefighter Timothy Kennedy for your continued dedication to providing the citizens of Birmingham #ExcellenceThroughService.

“I could tell that he was a kind, gentle, genuine person, and sometimes you meet people like that during this job and they touch your heart,” firefighter Tommy Carter told WBRC. “That makes the decision even easier when you meet someone that has that kind of personality.”

“Yeah, good guy,” firefighter Timothy Kennedy added.
