The cause of the star running back’s death is unclear. However, police in South Carolina have reportedly been working around the clock to determine what happened. Fuller was just 22 years of age. (RELATED: Former Packers Player Shot To Death)

Fuller was an instrumental player for Clemson. He played 43 games for the university and was considered a game changer for the 2016 National Championship team.

“Our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies are with C.J.’s family,” Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said in a statement. “I’ve known C.J. a long time and watched him grow up through the Easley rec leagues [in South Carolina] all the way through Easley High School. I’m proud of what he accomplished as a Clemson Tiger, most of all his accomplishment of being a Clemson graduate. Our deepest condolences and the thoughts of our program are with his family this evening. May he rest in peace.” (RELATED: LSU Basketball Player Shot And Killed. Suspect Still On The Run [VIDEO])

Fuller had a criminal record — in March he was arrested for alleged armed robbery.

This is a developing story. The investigation is ongoing.
