College football legend Jared Lorenzen has died at the age of 38.

The former star Kentucky quarterback’s family released a statement Wednesday afternoon announcing his passing and thanked people for the “support and prayers over the past six days.”

The former SEC sensation known for his left handed passing and massive frame for his position was hospitalized last Friday for many issues, including problems with his heart and kidneys.

Lorenzen was known in the sport for his struggles with his weight, and at one point in time weighed as much as 500 pounds.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. He was a college football legend, and he’s gone far too soon.
