Teen Vogue columnist Lauren Duca’s new book sold only 493 copies in its first week off the press.

Publisher’s Weekly predicted that Duca’s “How to Start a Revolution: Young People and the Future of American Politicswould “resonate even with those who are not already involved in progressive politics.”

The book sold 493 copies during its launch week starting Sept. 24, according to book scan reports from Simon and Schuster, and “How To Start A Revolution” ranks at 22,475 on Amazon as of Thursday morning. Best selling books on Amazon rank within the top 100 books on the platform. A new book typically must sell at least 1,100 copies every day during launch week in order to make it into the top five books on Amazon.

The book offers to explain political issues and figures as well as help young people become involved in politics. (RELATED: Teen Vogue Snapchat Discover Story Instructs Teenagers On How To Get Abortions)

“Duca combines extensive research and first-person reporting to track her generation’s shift from political alienation to political participation,” the Amazon book description reads. “Throughout, she also draws on her own story as a young woman catapulted to the front lines of the political conversation (all while figuring out how to deal with her Trump-supporting parents).”

Duca examines political figures like “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the youngest woman ever to be elected to Congress; David and Lauren Hogg, two survivors of the Parkland, Florida shooting who went on to become advocates for gun control; Amanda Litman, who founded the nonprofit organization Run For Something, to assist progressive young people in down ballot elections; and many more.”

Her bio highlights that she is best known for her “massively viral piece” in Teen Vogue, “Donald Trump is Gaslighting America,” adding “She’s mostly just trying to get you to follow her on Twitter.”

Duca sparked a backlash in December 2016 when she tweeted about Ivanka Trump being harassed on a JetBlue flight.

She later discussed her tweet on air on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” — a segment that ended with what appeared her mouthing at Carlson that he is a “sexist pig” when Carlson suggested she stick to writing about thigh-high boots.

Duca is also known for angry tweets at President Donald Trump on Twitter. The Teen Vogue writer tweeted at Trump on December 15, 2016 with the caption, “Eat shit, @realdonaldtrump.” She followed up on her tweet on Christmas Eve in 2016, adding, “To be clear, feces.”

Duca’s publicist did not yet respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
