Urban Meyer thinks Jarrett Stidham will do well as the starting quarterback of the New England Patriots.

Stidham is slated to open the season at the top of the depth chart for the Patriots after Tom Brady bounced for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While he doesn’t have much playing experience, the three-time national champion coach thinks he’ll be just fine. “You put Jarrett Stidham with Bill Belichick, Josh McDaniels & that system … They’re going to make that quarterback a good player,” Meyer told Colin Cowherd during a Wednesday interview. Watch his full comments below.

Stidham as the starting quarterback of the Patriots is going to be one of the biggest storylines of the 2020 season.

Stidham was a hell of a solid player in college. He started at Baylor and then finished at Auburn with a very successful career.

There’s no question at all that he has all the raw tools necessary to succeed at the highest level of football. He’s athletic and can make the throws.

In the modern NFL, that’s about all you need out of a quarterback. Bill Belichick is also the most successful coach in league history.

If there’s anybody capable of pushing Stidham for all he’s worth, it’s Belichick.

We’ll see what happens, but I have a lot of confidence in Stidham’s ability to develop into a solid player for the Pats.
