CNN aired an edited photograph of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his young son that did not include the Washington Redskins logo.

The football team announced in July it would not longer use the nickname the “Redskins” following years of backlash. The team has been briefly renamed the “Washington Football Team” after further pushes to rename the team following the death of George Floyd in May. CNN used a photograph Monday that Biden shared in June for a special called “Fight for the White House: Joe Biden’s Long Journey,” Fox News reported. The original photograph was shared on Biden’s official Facebook page on Father’s Day and included the Redskins logo on his son’s hat:

CNN’s feature included the photograph, but the Redskins logo was missing. The Biden campaign confirmed Wednesday that it had removed the logo due to copyright concerns.

“We removed the image because it is copyrighted, as is a very common practice on campaigns,” a Biden aide said according to The Hill.

CNN referred the Daily Caller to the Biden aide’s statement.

This piece has been updated to include the Biden campaign’s statement that it edited out the Washington Redskin’s logo.
