Coastal Carolina coach Jamey Chadwell has been named the coach of the year by the Associated Press.
The AP announced the award Wednesday, and Chadwell took it home after leading the Chanticleers to an 11-1 record. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

I’m more than okay with the AP choosing Chadwell. The only other obvious option to me would be Tom Allen, who finished second in the voting.
Tom Allen had a great year, but Chadwell had an insane year with the Chanticleers.

Nobody gave Coastal Carolina the time of day before this season. They were an afterthought if people even thought about them at all.
During the 2020 season, the Chanticleers became a household name, and Chadwell deserves all the praise he’s getting.

He’s a rising star in the coaching game, and I have no doubt he’ll have a major job soon if he strings together a few more great seasons.
