“Reading Rainbow” star LeVar Burton confirmed he has his eyes on being the next permanent host of “Jeopardy!”

Burton shared an article published by the New York Post on Wednesday with the “eyes” emoji.

He also shared a fan petition requesting “Jeopardy!” make him the next permanent host.

“Leaving this here in the event that the powers that be are listening,” Burton wrote Monday on Twitter. (RELATED: Aaron Rodgers Says He’d ‘Love’ To Be Permanent Host Of ‘Jeopardy!’)

“Between hosting 21 seasons of the educational Reading Rainbow, playing the brainiac engineer Geordi La Forge on Star Trek: the Next Generation, and filling the roll of Kunta Kinte in the ever important mini-series Roots, LeVar Burton has inspired and shaped the minds of several generations of trivia-loving nerds,” the Change.org petition said.

Those are all very good points. Burton is basically known for his love of knowledge and trivia facts. It would be a shame if “Jeopardy!” didn’t seriously consider Burton for the gig. He might be the best person to honor Alex Trebek following his death.

Burton has competition though. NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers also seems to really want to be the next permanent host. The Green Bay star has even shown how he could fit “Jeopardy!” into his schedule.

It’ll be fun to watch who gets the prize at the end of this.
