You won’t see Ohio State football coach Ryan Day walking the sidelines with a beard this season.

According to Bruce Feldman, the incredibly talented coach of the Buckeyes announced Monday that he will shave his beard before playing Minnesota this Thursday. Why? (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

He’s just “too superstitious.”

This is why I love college football. Ryan Day is in charge of a top five program, has national title aspirations and a roster loaded with superstar talent.

Yet, he’s not out there talking to the media about schemes and game planning. He’s talking about his beard needing to go because of superstitions he holds.

If you don’t find that entertaining, then I don’t know what to tell you.

Look, is it likely that Day having a beard would cause Ohio State to have a bad season? No, OSU would likely win at least 11 games no matter what his appearance looked like.

At the same time, why risk it, you know? If Day is winning with a clean shaven face, then there’s no reason to mix up what works.
