A private Christian school in Tampa, Florida, will be granted federal aid for school lunches after the Biden administration threatened to revoke the aid for refusing the administration’s expanded Title IX guidelines.

The Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) challenged President Joe Biden and Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried in a lawsuit filed July 27 on behalf of the Grant Park Christian Academy, after Biden and Fried threatened to take away federal funding for school lunches, the ADF stated Monday in a press release.  (RELATED: Former Puerto Rico Gov. State officials informed the school Friday that their request for federal funding will be approved, according to the ADF. The school year is set to start August 10.

The United States Department of Agriculture declared that Grant Park Christian Academy qualified for a religious exemption under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, a court document said. The decision removed the need for the hearing scheduled for August 11, according to the document.

“It shouldn’t have taken a lawsuit to get the government to respect religious freedom … Now, provided the government follows through and approves Grant Park Christian Academy’s application and confirms its exemption, this private school can continue feeding dozens of children healthy meals every day. We will defend other public and private schools across the country who remain under the burden of this unlawful mandate that violates religious beliefs,” ADF Legal Counsel Erica Steinmiller-Perdomo said, according to the release.
