Former George W. Bush White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove lambasted President Joe Biden during a Thursday evening appearance on Fox News for calling Republican allies of former President Donald Trump “semi-fascist.”
“Well, to think about the people that voted for Donald Trump, 72,216,000, they voted for him because he stood for tax cuts. He worked to make America energy independent. He believed in limited government and had put in place sensible limited regulations,” Rove told Fox News host Jesse Watters. “He had been for a strong national defense, rebuilding our military after eight years of the Obama-Biden administration. He believed in secure borders and building the wall. He believed in law and order when our cities were in flames and he appointed conservative judges. “Joe Biden had his own deplorable moment today when he came out and called the entire MAGA movement fascists,” Watters said prior to Rove’s reaction.

Biden claimed “MAGA Republicans” pushed “semi-fascism” during remarks at a Thursday Democratic National Committee fundraiser held at a Montgomery County, Maryland, public high school. Biden previously has privately expressed the view that he views Trump as a threat to democracy, according to an April 2 report by The New York Times, which noted Biden also expressed a desire for Attorney General Merrick Garland to act more like a prosecutor.
The FBI raided Mar-a-Lago, the Florida estate owned by Trump, on Aug. 8 to execute a search warrant. Many Republicans denounced the raid as an “abuse of power” by the Biden administration.
“He went to Montgomery County, Maryland to a Democratic National Committee fundraiser and basically said everything against what he had said in his inauguration address,” Rove continued. “The pledge he made to unite the country he threw it in the trash bin. Why did he want to do that? He wants to win in this election and is he willing to say and do anything in order to achieve his purpose.”
Trump and the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
