Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake of Arizona vowed to “fix” election administration in the state Tuesday after tabulation machines malfunctioned in Maricopa County.

“We don’t have to have elections run this way. We switched from a Republican area to vote, to the heart of liberal Phoenix to vote because we wanted to make sure we had good machines,” Lake told assembled reporters after she cast her vote. “Zero problems with the machines today, not one machine spit out a ballot here today. Not one. In a very liberal area. So, we were right to come and vote in a liberal area.” (RELATED: Kari Lake Spends Two Straight Minutes Berating The Media About ‘Election Deniers’)

“They got to fix this problem. This is incompetency. I hope it’s not malice,” Lake continued. “But we are going to fix it, we are going to win and when we win there’s going to be a ‘come to Jesus’ for elections in Arizona. There’s going to be a ‘come to Jesus.’”

At least 20% of tabulation machines in Maricopa County, Arizona, malfunctioned according to a Twitter post by county officials. Former President Donald Trump narrowly lost Arizona in the 2020 election, a result confirmed by a report by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.

“We are going to encourage people to stay in line, we are going to vote and stay in line and the people of Arizona would walk over hot coals and they would walk over broken glass to vote today and I know that they can stand in line for a couple hours if they have to,” Lake said. “I know they’ll stand in line for eight hours if they have to. And they will vote and my message to the people of Arizona is do not get out of line until you have cast your vote.”

An ABC news reporter asked Lake if she could be confident about whether she won if she expressed doubt about the election.

“We’ll work through it. I mean, we are going to win,” Lake said. “I’ve always said we have to win by a mile to eke out a one-inch win, but we will win and we will bring about good, honest reform to our elections.”
