Actor Sylvester Stallone revealed in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he regrets prioritizing his career over time with his family.

Stallone was discussing his acting career and the slew of unsuccessful movies he made in the late 80s and early 90s. The actor opened up to indicate that he now looks back at this time and wishes he would have done things differently.

“I felt as though I wasted a lot of time. Now I realize there are only so many bullets left in the gun. Very few,” Stallone told the Reporter. Stallone and his wife Jennifer Flavin filed for divorce in August but reconciled just over a month later, according to USA Today.

Stallone reflected on his time as a young actor and the work and life balance that he mismanaged in his youth. “When you’re young, you’re just haphazardly shooting wildly and hope you hit something,” he said.

“Now you don’t have the luxury of missing – especially with the family and the kids,” he told the Reporter.

“I find that to be my biggest regret. Everyone goes, ‘I wish I’d shown love more’ or ‘I wish I’d spent more time with the kids.’ I’m riding that boat,” Stallone said.

“That’s one of the reasons I wanted to do the reality show that I’ve been taking a lot of shit for,” he explained. Stallone also told the Reporter that the near-divorce would be part of a new reality show about his family.

“Of course it’s part of the show,” Stallone said. (RELATED: Tom Brady’s Divorce Proves Once And For All Why He’s The GOAT)

He went on to explain his justification for opening his personal life up for the world to see.

“It’s the John Lennon thing: ‘Life is what happens when you’re making other plans.’ Hopefully you’re involved with people who understand the foibles of life and the fragility of it and how rare a real good relationship is,” Stallone told the Reporter.

“Sometimes I put the work ahead of [my family], and that is a tragic mistake which won’t happen again,” he added.
