The next installment of the “Yellowstone” franchise is almost here, and the trailer suggests it’s going to be absolutely epic.

Narrated by “1883’s” Elsa Dutton (Isabel May), the trailer for “1923” features actors Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford like you’ve never seen them before. Standing in the same spot where we’re used to seeing the likes of John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), Ford readies the ranch for morning, but before more is revealed, we’re rushed through a supercut of stunning scenes from the upcoming series.

Before the trailer even begins in full, we’re already told what the new season is going to be about: violence. And my God does it look like there will be plenty in this depiction of the fictional Dutton family and their Montana neighbors.

It’s not like the Duttons aren’t used to violence. “Yellowstone” started with a brutal assassination of the eldest son and hasn’t gone an episode without a fight, explosion, or some other form of violence and its accompanying aftermath. “1883” was no different, revealing how settlers fought not only with attackers on the road west, but with each other and Mother Nature as they colonized the frontier. As “1923” is set during Prohibition, the Duttons will have plenty to do in the new season. I am so excited to see it play out. The show begins streaming Dec. 18 on Paramount Plus.
