Former porn star Ron Jeremy was committed to a state-run mental hospital and has been deemed unfit to stand trial on the rape charges brought forth against him.
Jeremy was facing a 30-count indictment that alleged rape, sexual assault, and a number of other charges, but will not stand before a jury to settle these matters, according to TMZ. He now resides in a mental hospital in California, where he will be held for up to two years. Periodic checkups will reportedly be conducted to determine if there are any improvements to his condition.

A judge reportedly authorized Jeremy’s move to the facility after ruling that his cognitive ability had declined so dramatically that he was unable to assemble his own defense, according to TMZ. The former porn star underwent a series of tests to determine his mental capacity. The results were assessed and Jeremy was diagnosed with dementia, according to TMZ. Several women came forward with allegations of misconduct against Jeremy, who pled not guilty to all charges in 2020. The judge reserves the right to continue pursuing the charges against Jeremy if his conditions improves over time. His first reassessment has been scheduled to take place in May, according to TMZ.
