James Gunn, who now heads DC Studios with Peter Safran, told Empire that a crossover between DC and Marvel is far more likely now that he’s in charge.

“I’m certain that’s more likely now that I’m in charge [at DC],” he told Empire in a piece published Thursday.

Unfortunately, DC and Marvel franchise fans might have to wait for quite a while to see their dreams come to fruition.

“That’s many years away, though. I think we have to establish what we’re doing [at DC] first. I would be lying to say that we haven’t discussed it. But all discussions have been very, very light and fun,” Gunn continued. His comments came amid a publicity tour for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” the final installment of the Chris Pratt franchise.

DC and Marvel comic books have already seen crossover events, even as far back as the 1970s, Deadline noted. The outlet cited examples such as Spider-Man teaming up with Batman and Superman. Apparently The Hulk has also battled Batman?

Personally, I am so here to see whether the X-Men could take on Batman or if he’d end up joining their ranks. (RELATED: REVIEW: Is The New ‘Batman’ Movie Worth Watching? The Answer Might Surprise Fans)

Then again, I am far from a DC/Marvel expert. But I think there is huge scope for serious fans to lobby for their favorite collaboration, especially with how easy it is to tweet at the studio. Let us know your favorite potential superhero crossovers in the comments!
