The ship has sailed for Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen as he will be out for the remainder of the season with a partial left Achilles tear.
With the injury occurring during the Pirates’ 5-4 win against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, McCutchen was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, via the Pittsburgh Pirates. While at first, the outfielder thought he was fine, he was proved wrong and will serve six weeks in a walking boot, according to Yahoo Sports.

With only three and a half weeks remaining in the Pirates’ schedule, there is no time for McCutchen to return before the season ends. The 36-year-old was having a good season before his injury, hitting .256 with 12 home runs and 43 RBIs this season, according to ESPN.

He currently sits at 299 career home runs, which is enough to motivate the outfielder to remain in Pittsburgh long enough to hit 300.
“I’ve vocalized that plenty of times about wanting to be here,” McCutchen said in an interview on Monday. “[Hitting 300] isn’t going to feel right anywhere else. At the end of the day, I have to make the right decisions for myself, for my family. Whatever happens here, in the future, it’s indicative of that. I’m gonna rehab this, let this heal. Then when it’s time to get moving again, I get moving again. We’ll see where we go from there.”
The Pirates currently sit fourth in the NL Central, right above the St. Louis Cardinals. It is highly unlikely either team will make the MLB Playoffs.
