A woman who lured a couple into the Talladega woods in Alabama to rob them pleaded guilty to murder Wednesday after shooting and killing one of the pair in 2022, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Alabama says.

Yasmine Marie Hider, 21, pleaded guilty to murder, kidnapping and robbery after shooting and killing 22-year-old Adam Simjee from Florida, NBC News reported Wednesday, citing federal prosecutors in Alabama.

Simjee and his girlfriend were driving through Cheaha State Park in Clay County, Alabama, to see the waterfalls when Hider flagged them down to “jump start” her friend’s broken-down car, the U.S. Attorney’s Office stated.

Hider then pulled a gun on the pair and ordered them to empty their pockets and to give her their banking and credit card information, according to NBC. (RELATED: Shocking Video Shows Two Suspected Muggers Apparently Beat And Rob Man In Broad Daylight)

Simjee was also armed and shot at Hider, hitting her four times, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Hider shot back and killed Simjee, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hider reportedly told investigators she lives in the woods. “The maximum penalty for murder and kidnapping is life in prison. The maximum penalty for robbery is 15 years in prison,” according to the attorney’s office. She is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 4, 2024. An alleged accomplice, Krystal Diane Pinkins, was convicted in late September in federal court.
