Country star Oliver Anthony stunned fans by announcing the birth of his son on Instagram on Wednesday.

The singer-songwriter previously mentioned he was expecting a baby boy in November, according to Newsweek. He shared an image of his new baby, wrapped up, and held in someone’s arms. The newborn had a full head of reddish hair, just like his father’s. “Mission success. ❤️” Anthony wrote in the caption of his post.

The adorable photo of the baby resonated with fans, who immediately flocked to Anthony’s social media page to share their excitement.

The photograph was ‘liked’ more than 89,000 times in less than four hours, and the comments section was flooded with warm, congratulatory messages and shared joy over this major life update.

“Welcome to the new world little one! Congratulations and many blessings to you all,” one fan wrote to his page.

Another fan said: “He’s absolutely perfect. Well done mama! Congratulations to you both!”

“Congratulations to yall!! Look at that red hair!” said another excited fan.

The famous artist rose to viral fame with the release of his hit song “Rich Men North of Richmond” in the summer of 2023. The song debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, according to Newsweek. In spite of his instant fame, the artist faced backlash over some of his lyrics, with some claiming his songs reflected fatphobic and elitist.

Many of Anthony’s die-hard fans made reference to his controversial lyrics by suggesting his baby’s nickname should be “fudge rounds,” a direct reference to his hit single. (RELATED: ‘A Lot Of People Feel Entitled’: Post Malone Says He Won’t Share His Baby With The Media)

It is not yet clear if Anthony will maintain his previously scheduled performance at the Joan Perry Brock Center in Farmville, Virginia, on October 28.

No further information about the baby’s name, weight, or height was revealed in the birth announcement.
