NeNe Leakes is opening up about her heart-wrenching final moments with her late husband, Gregg Leakes, who tragically lost his battle with colon cancer back in September 2021, People reported.

In a YouTube video titled, “I’m lost without you,” the reality TV star shared a deeply personal and emotional tribute to her late husband, as she recalled their last night together. NeNe started the video by reflecting on the morning of Sept. 1, 2021, a date forever etched in her memory. She describes how Gregg’s condition had deteriorated significantly in the final stages of his battle with cancer.

“My whole life changed,” NeNe said in a voiceover. She vividly recalled her initial shock when she saw Gregg’s  appearance, since it was different from how he had looked before. She was distressed, and asked, “What happened to Gregg? What have you guys done to him?” NeNe’s concerns led her to question the hospice caretakers.

NeNe said Gregg exhibited signs of restlessness, struggling to remove his shirt, and seemed like a completely different person. “He was pulling and fighting and kind of like, just trying to take his shirt off and he was just totally different. He had not ever been this way… Yes, I knew he was passing but I just thought somebody had done something to Gregg,” NeNe added. In a heart-wrenching decision, NeNe instructed Gregg’s caretaker to administer a small amount of medication. This decision came as she watched her beloved husband, who had often denied pain medications such as morphine, grapple with confusion and difficulty breathing. The reality star was aware that Gregg was nearing the end of his life, and her primary concern was to provide him with some comfort in his final moments.

Throughout Gregg’s last days, NeNe made sure their home was filled with the presence of loved ones. Among those by Gregg’s side were his six children — Daryl, Damian, Dexter, Denton, Katrina, their shared son Brentt, and her own son Bryson.
