You could cut the tension with a knife!

The relationship between United States soccer legend Landon Donovan and former USMNT coach Jurgen Klinsmann, was notoriously horrendous. And the final act that burned the bridge was when the German decided to leave the American off the 2014 World Cup squad that was being sent to Brazil.

Eventually, the two made up, but Donovan made it clear in a recent interview with CBS soccer streamer Golazo that things were once bad … and we mean bad.

“I said to Jürgen, ‘There are guys who you’re going to take to the World Cup, who’ll never play for the U.S. again, will rarely step in the United States again and don’t give a fuck what happens to U.S. Soccer after this tournament,'” Donovan said.

It makes me sad seeing this.

Whether it’s back in 2014 and or at the 2022 World Cup, the United States soccer program just seems to shoot itself in the foot over and over again, and obviously with me being an American and a soccer fan, it’s quite sad to witness.
