Former First Lady Melania Trump reportedly wants Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson to be her husband’s vice presidential pick.

The former first lady believes Carlson would be a powerful presence and a complimentary extension of her husband if Trump receives the nomination in the 2024 Republican presidential primary, Axios reported Thursday. Some sources close to Trump have reportedly discredited Carlson as a vice presidential pick because of the possibility of the Daily Caller co-founder outshining Trump on the campaign trail.

Former President Donald Trump said he is highly fond of Carlson and praised his “great common sense” during an interview with Outkick’s Clay Travis and Buck Sexton.

Trump hinted at the possibility of selecting a woman for his vice presidential pick in September. Trump insiders told the Daily Caller the former president may be eyeing Republican New York Rep. Elise Stefanik to be his running mate in 2024.

Carlson recently said he became an “active Trump supporter” after the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago, the former president’s private home. Carlson told actress and comedian Roseanne Barr the Justice Department is deliberately attempting to take down Trump, and said he will lead protests if the agency convicts him of any charge. “So it’s bigger than Trump. It’s bigger than Biden. It’s a question of ‘Do you want to live in a free country with a functioning justice system?’ So I’m voting for Trump, and if they convict him, I will send him the max donations and I will lead protests. That’s how I feel,” Carlson said during a Nov. 30 interview.

Carlson declined having any presidential ambitions during a July 2022 interview with Semafor editor-in-chief Ben Smith, saying he does not want any power.
