Illegal Immigrant Charged With Murder Of Toddler After Multiple Prior Arrests, ICE Spox Says

Police in Maryland charged an illegal immigrant who has multiple arrests and who had already been ordered to be removed from the country in connection with the murder of a 2-year-old, an ICE spox told a local news outlet.

Salvadorian-native Nilson Trejo-Granados, 25, was charged with first and second-degree murder of a toddler by the Prince George’s County Police Department in Maryland, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Removal Operations spokesperson James Covington confirmed with FOX 5.

During his time on U.S. soil, Trejo-Granados developed a rap sheet stemming from multiple arrests. A DOJ immigration judge in Newark, New Jersey, even ordered the illegal immigrant out of the U.S. in November of 2022

Most recently, the 25-year-old is one of five others being charged with a fatal Feb. 8 shooting between two “groups” that took the life of a toddler caught as a result of the crossfire and injured the mother who was walking with her late baby. Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) arrested Trejo-Granados on March 21, 2023, charging him with theft. The same department arrested the man for the same crime, in addition to being also charged this time with an attempt to obstruct and hinder in September 2023.

As a result of the last arrest by MCPD, ICE reportedly lodged an Immigration Detainer with the department yet Trejo-Granados was released to the public the next month in October, Fox 5 DC reported. (RELATED: ICE Detention Centers Have Thousands Of Empty Beds Despite Record Illegal Immigration)

After the most recent arrest this year by Prince George’s County Police Department, the ICE Baltimore office lodged a new detainer with Prince George’s County Detention Center, located in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

The others charged in the killing include a 15 and 16-year-old from Hyattsville, as well as a couple of other men police suspect drove a stolen car to the scene of the crime and shelled out gunfire that subsequently struck the mother and her now-deceased baby boy, Jeremy.

The two teens are being charged as adults.

All of the suspects are being held without the opportunity for bond.

Jose Antonio Ibarra, a Venezuelan illegal immigrant, was recently charged with the murder of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student at the University of Georgia (UGA). Ibarra allegedly caused “bodily harm” by “seriously disfiguring her body” and skull with an inanimate object, according to an arrest affidavit. Police have charged him with felony and malice murder, kidnapping, false imprisonment, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and concealing the death of another.
