Legendary country music star Reba McEntire denied allegations Sunday that she trashed Taylor Swift.

Rumors began swirling on social media shortly after the 2024 Super Bowl suggesting that McEntire was enraged by Swift’s behavior during McEntire’s performance of the national anthem. A Facebook page titled America Loves Liberty posted a message Wednesday, saying, “Reba McIntire [sic] talks about how disappointed she was to look up at the big screen while performing The National Anthem, only to see Taylor Swift laughing and drinking and making a mockery of the event.”

The page said McEntire responded by saying, “I let her have it afterward. She’s an entitled little brat.”

America Loves Liberty is a self-described troll account, and their Facebook page says “Nothing on this page is real.” Regardless, the country star pushed back in a post of her own.

“Taylor is a wonderful artist, strong role model and has done so much good for so many people and the music industry,” McEntire wrote.

Social media users were quick to weigh in, with an overwhelming number of them rising to McEntire’s defense. Many said they never believed McEntire would say anything derogatory about another artist. America Loves Liberty responded and stated that the whole thing was supposed to be a joke.

“Oh my. Reba McEntire herself responded to our nonsense,” they wrote. “Thank you, Ma’am. We love your work. The article is as silly as the headline for a reason. It’s not supposed to be believable. Your fans were staunchly on your side long before this post,” the page wrote.

The post continues to gain traction online.
