Police arrested former University of Michigan star quarterback Denard Robinson for allegedly operating while intoxicated (OWI) early Monday morning in Ann Arbor, according to multiple reports.

Police detained 33-year-old Robinson, who is currently the Wolverines assistant director of player personnel, after a reported single-vehicle accident. He will face charges based on toxicology results, according to FOX2.

Wolverines coach Sherrone Moore confirmed in a statement that Robinson has been suspended from the program, the Detroit Free Press reported. (RELATED: ‘Take Me To Jail’: Super Bowl XLIX Hero Malcolm Butler Reportedly Arrested And Charged With DUI)

“We are aware of an incident involving Denard Robinson and have suspended him indefinitely,” Moore said. “We will continue to monitor the situation and will have no further comment at this time.”

Robinson set 11 records as an All-American quarterback for the Wolverines from 2009–2012, including the NCAA mark for most career rushing yards by a quarterback.

After being taken in the 5th round of the 2013 NFL Draft, Robinson changed positions to running back and played four seasons for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Free Press reported.

Former Wolverines Coach Jim Harbaugh brought Robinson to Michigan as assistant director of player personnel in 2022, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Robinson’s situation marks the second time in the past two months that police have arrested a University of Michigan staff member for alleged OWI. Police arrested defensive line coach Greg Scruggs on March 16 for the same offense, the Detroit Free Press reported.

After being suspended indefinitely, Scruggs resigned March 21, FOX 2 reported.

In 2016, Robinson had another brush with the law when police reportedly found him asleep at the wheel after ending up in a retention pond in Jacksonville, though police determined that he was not impaired at that time, according to Detroit Free Press.
